A new Dicey label joins the already dicey label stable.
Separate from our core Dicey Bannockburn range and the Dicey single vineyard offerings, let us introduce you to Dicey Brothers.
It’s a label within our label that exists solely for fun and experimentation. Fun — firstly by us in the vineyard and then in the winery and also by you, dear reader and avid wine fan, when you slosh it around in a glass and share it with your mates.
There is a strict policy of no wine-wank with Dicey Brothers. These are not wines intended to be dissected. They are intended to create interest, some banter rather than debate and enjoyment for all those involved in the making and the drinking of them.
The pursuit of quality will not alter but the pathway there may be a little more relaxed.
Dicey Brothers is a place to explore the outer universe and we’re kicking off with a right bobby dazzler…

Fine Wine Actually
It is a collective of wine friends. Four in fact, all linked by the growing of grapes and making of wines. All consuming, extremely challenging yet very rewarding, for us, wine is the integral part of our lives and friendships.
Why wine you ask ? Well, there’s a few reasons.
Wine can simply be fun and delicious and for many that’s enough. Great wine though, is another thing. It’s personal. Each wine is a one-off, through vineyard, season and the winemakers touch.
It’s the coolest thing about wine, in it’s aroma, taste and texture, you can sketch an understanding of where the grapes were grown, often not just the country but the region and sometimes the vineyard itself.
It offers clues about the year it was made, the winery it was made in and through the mark of the maker you can even see some of the winemaker’s personality in the wine. You can literally taste where, when and from whom the wine comes from.
Our inaugural F.W.A. inc. is about creating wines with these three things in mind: a great wine that is fun, delicious and totally unique.
What to expect?
Central Otago is surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers with hot days and cold nights - our wines have fruit clarity, a tension between acidity and flavour, and above all vitality. These attributes come from its climate and soil. Just taste a Central Otago cherry or a freshly picked apricot to know what vibrancy of flavour means. Wine here is no different.
Pisa Terrace, what does this vineyard bring to the wine?
Planted 20 years ago, this vineyard is organic, BioGro certified, tended by hand and given all the care, compost and attention that any healthy vine needs - full of vitality. The vineyard is relatively high in elevation at 250m so doesn’t get quite as hot as other vineyards and the soils likewise are not as fertile as others in the region. These elements all influence the grapes and how the wines taste.
Pisa Terrace wines tend to be lighter in texture, more delicate in tannins, aromatic with power of flavour yet not overly concentrated, a light frame not heavy set. Picking these grapes early magnifies these fine attributes. Each winemaker was allocated an even mix of fruit from the same vineyard and the rest was left to us as to how we would express region, site and ourselves.
We will tell you a little about ourselves, our personality and what we are trying to bring to these wines. It’s subjective of course, wine is like that, yet as you taste through our wines, try to look for our personalities, the vein of expression we each bring to the wine.
Each individual, totally limited, all yours.
